OneCNC releases SMT patent
OneCNC's Solids Machining Technology (SMT) represents a major breakthrough
for rough and finish milling of complex surfaces and solids. This
technology advancement has the potential to revolutionize the machining
of surfaces and solids worldwide.
What is SMT?
SMT is a product of intensive research into 'smooth tool
path generation'. SMT provides smooth transition from each tool
movement to the next without jag's or gouges. Tool paths without
SMT look fine until you look closer. This is where OneCNC excels,
tool paths created with SMT are smooth and provide a superior part
finish.
Without SMT
Below is a tool path from another well known CAD/CAM software,
zoomed out the tool path looks fine as a person would normally see
it. Yet when zoomed in, you can clearly see small gouges and tool
path irregularities. These gouges negate high speed machining and
produce a poor part finish.
With
SMT there are no jag's
Below is a tool path created in OneCNC with the same settings,
drawing and tool. As you can see here the tool path is clean and
consistent. A major benefit to machining with SMT is little or no
polishing required, because the of-the-tool finish is of such a
high quality.

SMT process explained
SMT interrogates the surface to keep the tool path stable between
cuts, resulting in true machining excellence. OneCNC's SMT allows
the machine to maintain maximum feed rates by having a smooth tool
path. We found that this is the real factor in High Speed Machining.
SMT can increase surface machining accuracy by up to 50% or more
as well as reducing the amount of NC Code required.
The 'Jag' problem mold makers hate
Jags in other well known CAM software faults the machine into thinking
has come to a corner and slows down. With this constant jagging
the machine is in constant slowdown. So the tool path not only produces
a poor finish but takes longer to machine the part.
Machining Excellence is the secret
SMT provides machining excellence never seen before in this class.
OneCNC with SMT is the first product to offer so much technology
for such an affordable price. SMT is a significant enhancement to
CAM technology that could obviate the need for currently accepted
finishing techniques. This raises the bar to higher level and proves
that OneCNC has all the power a user needs.
SMT requirements
SMT doesn't require extra skills or knowledge to work. OneCNC is
easy to use and does not require extensive machining experience.
When you create a tool path with our friendly wizard driven interface,
SMT is working in the background to produce a smooth high-speed
tool path.
