Mill Professional Z Level Rough/Finish and Planar Toolpaths |
| |
1. Load the file.
2. Activate the NC Manager if not visible. |

3. Pin the NC Manager open by depressing the pushpin. |
| |
 |
| |
4. Left click Model Toolpaths on NC Manager. |
| |
 |
| |
5. The SMT Pick a Toolpath dialogue appears. Pick SMT Rough and Z Level as in the image below and click OK. |
| |

| |
6. The Z Level Roughing Path Control Dialogue appears. Match the settings in the dialogue image below and click next. |
| |
 |
| |
7. The Select Tool dialogue appears, left click image of tool. |
| |
 |
| |
8. Left click the End Mill icon at the top and select a tool #24 .375 Carbide End Mill and click accept. |
| |
 |
| |
9. Left Click Stock and select Aluminum Billet and click Accept. |
| |
 |
| |
10. Enter the remaining field values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |
 |
| |
11. The Set Clearances dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |
 |
| |
12. The Z Level Roughing Toolpath settings dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |

 |
| |
13. The Custom Levels dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |
 |
| |
14. The Boundary type dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |
 |
| |
15. The Boundary Extents dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Finish. |

Result:
The Z Level roughing toolpath has been created.

Step 2:
Z Level Finishing Operation
|
| |
1. Left click Model Toolpaths on NC Manager. |
| |

2. The Pick a Toolpath dialogue appears. Select SMT Finish and Z Level as in the image below and click OK. |

3. The Z Level Finishing Path Control dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |

4. The Select Tool dialogue appears. Left click image of tool. |
| |

| |
5. The Tool List dialogue appears. Left click the Ball Mill icon and select tool # 5 a .25 Carbide Ball Mill and click Accept. |

6. Enter the remaining field values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |

7. The Set Clearances dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |

8. The Z Level Finishing Toolpath Settings dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |

9. The Custom Levels dialogue appears. Make the selection as in the image below and click Next. |
| |

| |
10. The Z Level Finishing Boundary Type dialogue appears. Make the selections as in the image below and click Next. |

11. The Z Level Finishing Boundary Extents dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Finished. |

Result:
The Z Level Finishing Toolpath has been created. |

Step 3:
Planar Finish using Pick a Boundary |
| |
1. Left click Model Toolpaths on NC Manager. |
| |
 |
| |
2. The Pick a Toolpath dialogue appears. Select SMT Finish and Planar and click OK. |
| |
 |
| |
3. The Select a Tool dialogue appears, left click image of tool. |
| |
 |
| |
4. The Tool List dialogue appears. Left click the Ball Mill icon and select tool #6 (.25 HSS Ball Mill) and click Accept. |

 |
| |
5. Enter the remaining field values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |
 |
| |
6. The Set Clearances dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |
 |
| |
7. The SMT Planar Finishing Toolpath Settings dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Next. |
| |
 |
| |
8. The SMT Planar Finishing Boundary type dialogue appears. Match the settings in the dialogue below and click Next. |

9. The SMT Planar Finishing Boundary extents dialogue appears. Enter the values as in the image below and click Finished. |
| |

10. The cursor changes to Bound. Select the blue wireframe boundary by left clicking it. The entire boundary will highlight red as in the image below. |

11. Right click to end the selection process and the toolpath for Planar Finishing is initiated |
| |

Result:
All toolpaths for the model have been created. |
| |
Step:
NC Simulation.
1. Left click Post, Backplot, NC Simulation on NC Manager. |

 |
| |
2. The Process Toolpath Group Dialogue appears. Select Simulate icon. |
| |

| |
3. The NC Verification Dialogue appears. Match the values in the image below and click OK. |
| |

| |
4. The Live Simulation window opens begins the simulation. |
